I attended Catholic schools from first grade through college. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Saint Mary’s University in Winona, MN in 1992. I then attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota and obtained a Ph.D. in cell biology and genetics in 1998. I moved to North Carolina and worked in a genetics research lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While there I also taught genetics at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. I took a break from research to have my 3 wonderful children and began working part-time as an instructor/teacher. I have taught biology classes at the Minneapolis School of Business career college for the past five years. I thoroughly enjoy helping teach eighth grade earth science at St. Hubert School. I have always had a passion for education and teaching. My mother taught first grade in a Catholic school for over twenty years and I value what she has taught me. In my spare time, I love spending time with my children and husband. We love hiking, biking, and reading! I am excited to be a part of this wonderful community.
